Polish Grain Exports to Egypt: New Opportunities for Trade Cooperation with Africa
Polish company Elewarr has signed a contract to export grain to Egypt, opening up new opportunities for trade cooperation with Africa. The agreement also highlights the relevance of the inaugural Africa Food & Trade Forum, held during POLAGRA 2026, which brought together business leaders, institutional representatives and delegations from 13 African countries.
Polish company Elewarr has signed a contract to export grain to Egypt. This marks an important step in strengthening economic cooperation with one of the world's largest grain importers and highlights the growing importance of African markets for Poland's agri-food sector. The announcement also underscores the relevance and timely focus of the first Africa Food & Trade Forum, held during this year's POLAGRA trade fair.
The agreement was announced by Małgorzata Gromadzka, Poland's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, who has been actively involved in developing Polish-Egyptian trade relations. According to information published by Tygodnik Poradnik Rolniczy, the contract could cover hundreds of thousands of tonnes of Polish grain.

The agreement is particularly significant in the context of the current situation on Poland's grain market. Expanding exports and opening up new sales destinations could create additional opportunities for Polish grain producers and, in the longer term, contribute to building more stable trade relationships with international buyers.
POLAGRA - A Platform for Dialogue and Trade Cooperation with African Markets
The development of trade relations with Egypt is particularly relevant in the context of this year's POLAGRA trade fair. Representatives of Elewarr, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Małgorzata Gromadzka, and delegations from Egypt were among the event's participants.

One of the highlights of POLAGRA 2026 was the inaugural Africa Food & Trade Forum, an initiative dedicated to strengthening economic cooperation between Poland and African countries. The forum brought together more than 100 participants, including representatives of embassies from 13 African countries, institutions and the business community.

The programme featured presentations on the potential of individual markets, discussions on food security, and business meetings designed to facilitate direct contacts between companies and institutional partners.
The announcement of the grain export contract with Egypt highlights the importance of the trade opportunities and areas of cooperation discussed during the Africa Food & Trade Forum. It also demonstrates the value of creating opportunities for international dialogue, knowledge exchange and the development of business relationships.
Initiatives such as the Africa Food & Trade Forum strengthen POLAGRA's position as a meeting place connecting Polish producers with business partners from promising international markets.
Egypt – A Strategic Market for Polish Exports
Egypt is one of the world's largest wheat importers, and its demand for agri-food products creates significant opportunities for international suppliers.
The contract signed by Elewarr reflects broader efforts to strengthen the presence of Polish companies in markets beyond Europe. Developing direct trade contacts, establishing long-term partnerships and identifying new distribution channels are essential elements of this approach.
Opportunities for cooperation with Egypt extend beyond the grain market. Other segments of the agri-food sector also offer potential for further trade development, with Polish producers well positioned to compete through product quality, production capacity and export experience.
Future editions of POLAGRA will continue to support international business cooperation, with a strong focus on attracting foreign trade delegations, facilitating direct B2B meetings and developing initiatives that help Polish companies expand into new markets.
